ISLAMABAD: Following repeated failures to furnish details of the last six months spending, hiring, and firing, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) has given Tuesday (July 4) deadline to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) authorities to submit the required details, terming the letter as ‘most urgent’.

The IPC Ministry has decided to go tougher on the reports received recently from different quarters on the unnecessary PCB Management Committee (MC) spending and the decisions taken by the temporary set-up regarding cricket developments.

“The sole purpose of the MC was to restore the 2014 PCB constitution, to conduct the election, and to set up the stage for the lawful transition of the powers to the elected PCB. We have received several reports on different matters which are required to be scrutinised. We cannot say anything final as to what has gone wrong unless and until we go through the documents. Earlier, we sent two reminders to the PCB MC to furnish the details which the Committee didn’t. Now we have sent a fresh letter to Salman Naseer, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Board to share the required details not later than July 4,” one of the Ministry officials when approached, said.

The fresh letter written by the Ministry says:

“I am directed to refer to this Ministry's letter dated 20.04.2023 on the subject, followed by reminders dated 16'” May 2023 on 22nd June 2023 whereby It was requested to furnish information on the following points:

I. Complete criteria / Sops for selection/nomination of members from Regions and Departments for the Board of Governors.

ii. Detail of Lawsuit instituted against the election conducted by the Election Commissioner in the Regions, Districts and Cities, if any.

iii. Detail appointments made by the Management Committee during the period and nature of these employments temporary, contractual, or permanent in nature including national, and international coaches for the national team.

iv. Detail of total expenditure incurred by the Interim committee during the tenure of the Management Committee.

v. Detail of contracts awarded/signed with different entities along with ToRs, nature of contracts and period of contracts may also be furnished to this office.

vi. Detail of Initiation and closure of pending enquires against any official or coach during the tenure of MC.

2. The said information has not yet been received. It is, therefore, directed that the same be submitted to this Ministry by 4” July 2023 positively, without any further delay.

3. This may be treated as most urgent.”

The Ministry which has the mandate to monitor the PCB working had written a letter earlier on April 20 to the PCB to share all the details of expenditures the MC has made during the first 120 days in power.

The second letter was written on May 16 which again reminded the PCB MC to share details of the expenditures by May 18.

The second letter signed by the Deputy Secretary Ministry of IPC has termed the matter as important.

“The competent authority has shown serious concerns over non-compliance of PCB despite lapse of considerable time, the response has not been submitted to this office for further necessary action."

The News has access to all these letters sent to the PCB MC and now to Salman Naseer.

The MC tenure expired at midnight between June 19 and June 20, 2023, and now the letter written to PCB COO.
